Antique Carved Gothic Revival Hall Bench with Knights, Scholars and Lions
The bench makes a real statement and is perfect for a hallway, parlor, or even man cave. An antique carved Gothic revival hall bench with fine tracery panels , and finial on either end of knights with shields and in the center a pair of scholars. Each armrest is capped with a seated lion holding a shield. The top of the bench is carved with a fine wooden cable connecting each of the stiles. The seat of the bench lifts for storage.
The bench is in very good condition for the age. Dimensions are approximately 58.1/2” high, 48.1/4” wide, and 18 1/2” deep. The center back panel is split in half but can be placed just adjacent to the complementary piece, or even glued together. The lion on the left armrest appears to have been reattached at some point in its past. The finish appears to be original, but may have slight scuffs, scratches or wear commensurate with age and use. The bench is circa 1890.
