A small oil on panel painting by Italian artist, Alexis D’Ambrossi depicting a cavalier in red with lace collar. D’Ambrossi seems to have taken his inspiration for his cavalier depictions from French artist, Ferdinand Roybet (1840-1920), and does a wonderful job especially of depicting the lace collar with the background color of coat coming through the cross-hatching.

The painting is in excellent condition as is the original pierced and gilt frame. The painting image measures 13” x 10” and overall with the gilt frame, measures 18 3/4” x 15 1/4”.
