This English Wedgwood 1L Tankard depicts a beautiful pastoral scene with small figures standing on a bridge in a landscape. This is original artwork by artist Emile Lessore, and also comes with a small paperback book on Wedgwood in which this tankard is illustrated. The tankard has a silver-plated lid. The tankard is marked Wedgwood on the bottom and has the date code of HBO for 1860. Emile Lessore lived from 1805-1876 and was a celebrated artist for Wedgwood and had previously worked at Minton and at Sevré.
The tankard measures approximately 8.5” tall and has no chips, cracks or hairlines. The silver plating on the lid has some wear, and the lid does not fit smoothly on the top of the tankard.
