Antique 1L Schierholz Porcelain German Beer Stein Capo-di-monte style Battle Scene
This is an absolutely beautiful 1L antique German beer stein made by Schierholz and Söhn, maker of extremely high quality porcelain character beer steins. This example is in the capo-di-monte style and depicts a battle scene with knights in armor on horseback and on foot fighting with swords and polearms in the glory of battle. The lid surmounted by a plumed helmet, and the thumb lift a figural spread-winged eagle. The handle is shaped like a mythological beast with a woman's body and the head of a leopard. It is hand-painted and absolutely beautiful.
The marking on the bottom has the "Musterschutz" in quotations (equivalent of German Trademark) with the blue hashmark indicative of Schierholz made steins along with a crown and a few letters as well. The stein measures 10" tall to the top of the finial on the lid and is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines or pewter damage. Please contact for additional photos.
