Antique Pair of Italian Ebonized Bone Inlay Marquetry Chairs
Gorgeous pair of antique ebonized bone inlay marquetry chairs depicting renaissance images of women, noblemen, hunters, dogs, birds, and scrolling elements, these are typical of the mid to late 19th Century of the area of Milan, Italy. The marquetry images are created with bone and various woods to create pictures of renaissance scenes and classical portrait busts within each stretcher. Each chair features scrolled finials, with slightly slanted armrests and conforming seats. These measure 54 1/5” high, 23” wide and 23” deep.
One chair has a horizontal crack across the back, but is stable. All inlay appears to be present, and chairs are solid and sturdy. The wood exhibits some warping, splits, scuffs, and other wear consistent with age and use. This pair of chairs includes FREE shipping in the continental US, but cannot ship to other areas.
