A Continental School, 19th Century oil on oak panel painting depicting a swordsman wearing a cuirass. The painting is signed in the lower left corner, but is not legible enough to discern the artist’s name. The image measures 15 3/4” x8 1/4” and the overall size including the frame is 18 3/4” x 11 1/4”. The panel is slightly bowed as often happens with panels of this age. There are a few small areas of paint loss to the top center and near the bottom area where there are some white spots, possibly in-fill.
