Renaissance Revival Bronze Tazza with Butterfly and Floral Motif
A beautiful Renaissance Revival bronze tazza or compote, a shallow bowl or dish raised on a stemmed foot, this piece ha a butterfly and floral motif, with what appears to be peonies in dark red and blue with gold leaves and a bright gold butterfly in the center. The tazza has rocaille scroll handles and the center decoration is in relief with gilt decoration. It measures 9” high and 17” wide across the handles at the widest point. It is in very good condition with no visible damage, but perhaps slight wear to the gilt finish.
A tazza is an Italian shallow bowl with foot or with foot and stem used as a decorative piece. This is likely late 19th Century but could be early 20th Century.
