An oil on canvas portrait painting of a gentleman, said to be Thomas Owen, High Sherif of Montgomery, aged 29, and dated 1637, by Adam de Colone (1572-1651). Please note, this painting is currently in the process of being researched by the RKD. The painting shows a quite proud gentleman with s powerful stance, left hand on his hip and right hand on a red leather chair. The painting is amazing in its detail of his lace collar and cuffs as well as the black doublet with brocade detail. The painting is charged with the sitter’s coat of arms and inscribed with his age, 29 and date, 1637.
The painting measures 44 1/2” x 33 9/16” and overall with the frame measures 52 1/2” x 41 1/2”. The painting and frame is in excellent condition and ready to hang.
