$15,000.00

An oil on panel painting by Pieter Wouwerman (1623-1682) depicting “Riders Setting Off” for a journey. The nearest rider is dressed elegantly and bending over to adjust his boot; a woman holding a baby stands nearby watching the departure. Another rider in a red coat, mounted on a white horse is riding further ahead. There is a castle in the distance. The painting is faintly monogrammed with the artist monogram of “PW” in conjoined letters on the lower left corner of the painting. The painting is presented in an antique Dutch 17th Century ebonized frame.

The panel measures approximately 15 3/4” x 12 1/2” and overall with the Dutch Ripple Style frame measures approximately 30” x 27” The painting is in very good overall condition. The frame has some evidence of historical woodworm damage (not active) and appears to have been reduced in size at the top of the frame. The painting and frame are ready to hang.
