19th Century French Renaissance Revival Carved Figural Server
19th Century French Renaissance Revival Carved Figural Server
One of the most amazing and beautiful pieces in our collection is this 19th Century French Renaissance Revival Carved Figural Server. This is a monumental piece and truly one of the nicest we have seen. The top of the cabinet features three carved doors, the center door with a three-dimensional carving of a cavalier knight on horseback with his valet and two dogs, blowing a horn, with a castle in the background. The left and right doors with female forms. The top portion of the cabinet is supported by carved pillars in the form of jesters with legs crossed, with each jester having it's own form. The bottom of the server has an apron carved with four different faces, some smiling, some looking grotesque, and below that, three drawers with decorative carving. There are two large doors with a decorative urn and floral motif below. There are shelves behind each of the doors. This cabinet is in very good condition, but portions appears to have been refinished at some point. There is a minor, but not very noticeable ring in the center of the top. The keys for this piece have been lost in times past. This is a very large piece, and comes apart in various sections, and can be easily re-assembled. There would have been two small urn finials at the top of this cabinet, which are missing. One of the hanging urn finials near the center has previous damage, but was repaired. The skirting appears to be loose at the bottom right. Dimensions 104" H x 67" W x 26" D. Free Shipping on this item in the 48 contiguous United States. This item will ship via freight service.
