This wonderful 19th Century moonlit landscape with a castle is a great tonalist work that really draws the viewer into the scene. A sole traveler looks out over a lake with a sailboat, it’s sail reflecting the moonlight. The painting is unsigned, but clearly shows significant age and as well as the talent of the artist.

The site area of the painting measures approximately 19 1/4” x 23 3/8” and the overall size including the frame measures approximately 29 1/4” x 32 3/8”. The painting itself appears to be in very good condition with no signs of damage. The frame appears to have had some previous damage with old repairs and re-gilded or painted frame, but displays well.
