A beautiful antique oval oil on canvas painting of a knight in armor, a young man, standing proud, a white ribbon and bow tied around his right arm and holding a ring on the index finger of his right hand. The man appears well-coifed with long flowing hair, bearing an aristocratic look, staunch white collar and golden tassels hanging from his neckline. The blackened armor glimmers in the light and is quite well-executed. The man stands before a dark background but his left hand appears in front of a colored background or wall. The painting is presented in a wonderful oval gilt frame.

While the image appears to be one of a 17th Century man, the painting is more likely 19th Century. The painting is on canvas and has a very old and dark wooden oval stretcher or strainer. The canvas appears to have likely been relined, and is quite taut. The painting was professionally cleaned and the frame was professionally restored with some of the composition pieces remade and painted to match the remainder of the frame. There is a paper backing on the piece, which is torn at the top, and one can see the dark wooden stretcher and dark canvas. The image size measures 36” x 27” and the overall size including the gilt frame is approximately 43” x 33”.
