Antique Scottish Basket Hilt Sword Boer War Edward VII with Scabbard

$1,635.00

Scottish Basket Hilt "Claymore" Sword from the Boer Wars in England bearing the cipher of Edward VII.  This is a beautiful example of a Scottish Basket Hilt sword with heart shaped piercings, intricately etched blade bearing the crown and cipher, The basket is lined with calfskin liner covered with a red material and the grip covered in the usual ray skin.  The scabbard is covered in leather; stitching is coming out and the ball finial is missing from the scabbard.  This sword is not sharpened, and was likely of ceremonial use, likely 1902, the last year of the second Boer War and the first year of the reign of Edward VII.
