This is a beautiful antique English oil on canvas landscape painting with castle by British artist Edmund Johann Niemann (1813-1876). The painting displays a beautiful blue sky with clouds and birds flying overhead with a large castle in a valley and a figure among trees and brush. The colors of the sky complement those of the trees and brush very well, and the castle stands out as the central image. The painting is signed “Niemann” in the right corner of the canvas. The painting is housed in a later English wood and gesso frame, likely mid 20th Century.

The site area of the painting measures 18” x 14 1/8” and the outer dimensions of the frame measure 23 3/8” x 19 5/8”. The painting has been newly cleaned and restored professionally, and is ready to hang.
