This painting is entitled “The Jest” and titled on the frame. It is signed by the artist and dated 1923.  The colors are bright and beautiful with tremendous detail.  The subject seems to be a jest or joke between the three men in the painting. There is some craquelure in the paint layer, most prominently in the background, but this is not distracting.

The dimensions of the site area of the canvas are approximately 13 1/2” x 19 1/2” and in the gilt frame measures 21 1/2” x 27 1/2”. There is some gilt loss to the frame liner
