Gothic Revival Cabinet with Carving of St. Michael and the Devil
Made in Belgium, late 19th or early 20th century, this finely carved Gothic revival cabinet features a figural carving of St. Michael battling the Devil in the form of a dragon, flanked by St. Peter with a key on the left and St. Anthony with a sword on the right, carved into each of the cabinet doors. Detailed iron sliding locks keep the doors latched. An arched floral motif rises above the open portion of the cabinet and legs feature linen fold design. Condition: having a wood split to one back panel, having nicks and abrasions throughout, areas of small losses to feet, two repaired breaks to front apron.
