This Gothic Revival Lectern is a wonderful statement piece. It's slant top is perfect for a Bible, photo album, or even a cookbook.  The top lifts up to reveal another compartment beneath.  The single door is carved with a winged gryphon grasping a tome and multiple fluer de lis. The sides have foliate carving with flying buttresses symbolic of the Gothic Revival movement.  The cabinet still has its original lock and key.  Opening the door reveals a single wooden shelf. The frieze at the top simply sits in place and can be removed for transport.  In overall good condition, minor worm holes add to the distressed character and show the age of this piece.
