Marble Bust of Emperor Lucius Verus
Marble Bust of Emperor Lucius Verus
This large marble and porphyry bust of Emperor Lucius Verus (130-169 A.D.) , co-emperor of Rome with Marcus Aurelius is an imposing and dramatic display. Age is unknown, but likely late 19th or early 20th Century. This is hand-carved stone; marble with a porphyry stone mantle and a marble plinth base. There is a dark area on the forehead, but this appears to be a natural coloring of the marble and smooth. There is what appears to be a slight glue residue where the neckline meets the mantle, very minor (see photos) Dimensions: 25 1/2" H x 19" W x 10" D, 140lb.
