Oil on canvas painting by English artist Sebastian Pether (1790-1844) depicting a nocturne with Windsor Castle on the Thames in the moonlight. In the foreground is a woman on a bench and a man with a top hat standing next to the bench. While there does not appear to be a signature on the canvas, the painting is identified on verso as Sebastian Pether, who was quite well known for moonlit landscapes.

The site area of the painting measures 20” x 26” and the outer dimensions of the frame measure approximately 25” x 30.75”. The canvas as been lined onto another canvas at some point in its history and is tight and appears in very good condition, with some craquelure as would be expected from age but no chipping or paint loss, and frame is in very good condition.
