Original Oil on Canvas Painting of Cavalier with Walking Stick by Alex de Andreis (1880-1929)
An original and very beautifully detailed oil on canvas painting of a cavalier in red with a lace collar, wide-brimmed hat, gloves, and silver walking stick. The cavalier stands proudly and and confidently in front of a leaded glass window, looking directly at the viewer. The painting is in its original gilt frame with name plate and is signed by the artist in the lower right corner.
Alex de Andreis (1880-1929) was a Belgian artist and is well-known for his extravagant paintings of cavaliers and courtiers, men of the 17th Century decked out in their colorful fine clothing.
The painting measures approximately 25” x 21” and overall with the frame measures approximately 32 1/4” x 28”.
Condition: Overall very good condition, tiny pinprick hole in upper right quadrant within hat brim (see last photo), but so small, not really noticeable at all in viewing. Frame has had some old, previous repairs, but is also in very good overall condition.
