Pair of Antique German Pewter ZunftPokals (Guild Pokals or Goblets) 21" Tall with Knight Finials

$1,895.00

This is a pair of large Pewter Zunftpokals, Guild Beakers or Goblets with a knight finials on each of the lids, engraved with numerous German names, presumably the guild masters. There are also sculptural lion mascarons surrounding the top and bottom rim, with small brass rings, which would have held the medallions for each guild master. One of the pokals has two medallions remaining, each with an engraved bird. Each German guild would have its own Guild Beaker in each city. These generally date from the 18th Century, however the Weigang family pewterers made many of the originals and also made historismus reproductions in the late 19th century. It is unknown if these are 18th Century originals or 19th Century reproductions. Either way, they are antique, over 100 years old, and these pokals are from the estate of Joan Rivers.

Condition is expected for age and use. There are various dings, dents, etc on each of these. One Pokal has no medallions, and the other is missing all but 2 of the medallions. from the lion mascarons. One knight appears to be missing something from his raised hand, perhaps a sword or flag. The other holds a large shield and a curved scythe. Overall these display very well, despite minor imperfections.

These include FREE shipping in the Continental U.S. Shipping for other areas to be determined after checkout.
