Pair of Large Antique Etched Mettlach Castle Plaques Rheinstein & Stolzenfels 17"
Pair of Large Antique Etched Mettlach Castle Plaques Rheinstein & Stolzenfels 17"
A pair of large antique etched and incised Mettlach castle plaques by Villeroy and Boch. These plaques are #2195 and #2196 and represent Rheinstein Castle and Stolzenfels Castle. Both have hanging wires on the back. The Rheinstein plaque has the date code on the back for 1905 and measures 17 11/16” in diameter. The Stolzenfels plaque has the date code for 1899 and measures 17 1/4” in diameter, and is slightly taller or more curved, likely due to the age difference from manufacturing changes in the preceding six years. The difference is not noticeable once hung on the wall. They make a wonderful complementary pair with each having a castle high on a cliff overlooking a body of water with boats.
The plates each of some slight gilt or gold wear around the outer rim, but otherwise are undamaged, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines.
This pair of palques comes with FREE shipping in the USA, other areas would incur an additional shipping charge.
