An oil on artist board painting by British artist, Robert Alexander Hillingford (1828-1904) depicting a female musician playing a guitar. She is seated on a Renaissance style trunk with her foot propped up on a footstool. A pilgrim flask sits on the trunk, likely containing wine. A book of music lying on the floor. The painting is signed R. Hillingford, lower right and titled with artist name on the liner of the frame.

The painting measures 14 1/2” x 10 1/2” and overall with the gilt frame measure 24 1/2” x 21”. The frame has some minor old damage which has been repaired and looks very good. The artist board is bowed slightly, and there are small tears on both left and right side of the painting with a small amount of missing artist board on the top left, that should likely be restored.
