Signed Oil Painting on Canvas of Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria
Signed Oil Painting on Canvas of Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria
This is a beautiful vintage oil on canvas painting of Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria, built by King Ludwig II in the late 19th Century. The castle was seen for many years as the quintessential fairy tale castle, and in fact, was Walt Disney's inspiration for his castle at Disney Land and Disney World.
The painting is signed in the lower right, but the signature is not legible. Based on the back of the canvas and stretcher boards, this appears to be a vintage oil painting, perhaps from the 1940's or 1950's, but in a gorgeous contemporary silver, but antique style frame that greatly complements the subject of the painting and the mountain landscape.
For customers that have seen the photos of my home, I have a very similar painting above the fireplace in my great room, of Neuschwanstein, but that one was painted by my mother. This is very comparable, but much older. It would look great over your fireplace or in any grand area of your home.
Dimensions of the painting sight area are 27" x 19" and the outer dimensions of the frame are 34 1/2" x 26 1/2".
Condition: There is a small area where the canvas is slightly loose near the pine trees in the lower left, and there is a small area of paint loss on the lower left corner which is not distracting (see last two photos of front of picture).
