Spanish Style Renaissance Revival Extension Dining Table with 8 chairs

$2,995.00

Heavily carved Spanish style renaissance revival extension dining table with two arm chairs and six side chairs. The table is raised on hair lion’s paw style feet and legs separated by a stylized iron stretcher. The table top lifts up and there are leaves that extend from each end of the table, so it can be used open or closed. In order to use all 8 chairs, it must be fully extended. The chairs have heavily carved crest rails with a tower motif in the center of each. The tooled leather backs of the chairs have the same tower motif alternating with a rampant lion.

The table has some slight scratches on the extension leaves from the table top resting on it when closed, but is not distracting. They have been touched up by a professional furniture restoration service. The seats of the side chairs have been reupholstered in solid black leather, but the arm chairs have the original tooled leather seats. This dining table and chairs is part of a larger suite of dining room furniture which is being offered for sale separately or together as the full suite under a different listing.

The table measures 31” high x 71” long (closed) x 39” wide. With the extension leaves in place the table extends to 108.5”. The arm chairs measure 51” high, 27 1/2” wide and 21” deep. There are labels on the bottom of some of the chairs from a furniture store in Nice, France and a delivery address in Spain. The wood may be maple or beach, but the species is unidentified. It is likely from the mid 20th Century. There are various scuffs on the leather and some sagging to the seats of the armchairs as would be expected from age and use, but this is a very sturdy set and could be employed for everyday use, or simply just as a fantastic showpiece for a castle style home.
