An oil on canvas painting by Belgian artist, Frans Moormans (1835-1893) entitled “The Toast” signed and dated F Moormans Paris 1888. The painting depicts a group of people in 17th Century clothing, sitting around a dining table before a large fireplace and enjoying a feast and one man standing and hoisting his Roemer in a toast to the momentous occasion. The dog sits at attention watching the the toast.

The painting measures 19 7/8” x 25 13/16” and overall with the gilt frame measures 26 3/8” x 32 1/2”. The painting has a sticker on the back from restoration completed by Art Restoration Lab at Gate House Galleries Inc. in 05/1992. There are minor nicks and abrasions to the frame, but not distracting. The painting is ready to hang.
